Best of Brighton in Gyms

It’s the beginning of the year and you want to join a gym and you’re scratching your head unsure of which is the right fit for you. Maybe you don’t want to spend too much, or you really want to workout with a friend, or better yet, finding a place close to The Projects would be ideal. Whatever your preference or problem, we’ve made things easier for you and put together a list of five unique options, with the help of our members’ personal input, to make the process a bit less overwhelming.

Which Brighton Gym is Right for You?

If you’re looking for a sense of community… South Coast Strength Club SCSC is a community. All sessions are in a small group, which builds a sense of community and togetherness. We support each other to get stronger and encourage success at every step of the way.

Also, SCSC provides technique-focused coaching to ensure safe and correct lifting, which allows an individual to progress at their own pace. Key principles are used to ensure members training at SCSC continue to progress, get stronger, fitter and more resilient each week. Their training methods also improve posture and build joint integrity and stability, which has a huge impact on the quality of life. This is especially true for office workers, who spend large amounts of time sitting at a desk.

The Projects member Sophie says, “I love training at SCSC. Since I became a gold member six months ago, my body has completely transformed. I’m so much stronger, pain-free, my posture is better and the way I show up in every part of my life is different. I feel so confident. This is a program that works for everyone and actually works. I actually look forward to working out with Tommy!”

If you’re looking for a sustainable option… Green Gym Group Through their SportsArt ECO-POWR Cardio equipment, they harness the power of your workout and convert it in to clean reusable electricity. 74% of energy use is fed back into the grid! The Green Gym Group is also against single-use plastics and has a small supply of reusable cups for water if requested. They aim to limit their paper usage and stick to recycled paper when necessary. Not to mention, the group actively promotes and participates in beach cleans with members and corporate sponsors. Why not better the planet’s health whilst bettering your own?

If you’re looking for a great location… Juvenate Gym at the Jury’s Inn Just a two-minute walk from our front door, the Juvenate Gym is a great place to get your before or after-work workout. Once you join the club you will receive a free induction and programme session on how to use the gym equipment and they tailor a programme towards your specific goals. At the end of your first 6 -8 weeks they offer all members a free review of this programme to update your workouts and assist you towards achieving your goals.

Also, it’s family-friendly as children are welcome to use the swimming pool. And to ensure the safe use of the pool the gym has a two to one ratio of children to adults that has to be adhered to.

The Projects member Pete says, “It’s just really convenient – right next to the projects, we get a member’s discount, and there are a small pool, steamer and sauna.” Learn more about what they offer on their website.

If you’re looking for a premium experience… Fitness Hub Brighton Try two times a week personal training, along with unlimited classes, and full gym access as a part of Fitness Hub Brighton’s Platinum Membership. They offer a variety of equipment like cardio machines, free weights, resistant machines, an open training rig with an indoor Astro-track. There are also changing bays, personal storage, disabled access, and a protein bar.

If you’re looking to break a sweat… TheBox TheBox is Brighton’s first boutique boxing-inspired gym and fitness studio. With classes like Box ‘N’ Burn, Strength & Conditioning, Rounds, HIIT, and Hatha Flow, you will not struggle to find a way to get your heart beating and beating fast.

Also, TheBox builds its community with fitness retreats and fundraisers. For example, TheBox’s head trainer, Jordan lost his best friend, Paul ‘Lefty’ King to leukaemia so the gym gathered their members together to raise some much-needed funds for the Anthony Nolan charity.

Finally, TheBox encourages its members’ 5 to 16-year-old kids to come to the gym for free. They provide a Sunday Service class that helps them learn basic boxing skills with some light glove work, footwork and skipping.
