Join us for Friday Film Club - a monthly event series hosted by our Ambassador of Creative Art and Culture, Mickey.
Each session will take place during lunch in The Globe, featuring a short film carefully chosen around a timely theme or cultural moment. Expect thought-provoking storytelling, space to reflect, and a chance to connect with the world - and each other - in a different way.
Scroll on to hear from Mickey and find out more about this month’s powerful theme, curated in honour of Pride.

This Month’s Theme:
Hey everyone!
The Theme for this month’s Friday Film Club is Queer Joy, Queer Resistance - The Prom We Fought For:
As Brighton Pride approaches, this month’s film club celebrates the power of queer self-expression in the face of hetronormative pressure. We will be viewing a collection of stories from LGBTQ+ individuals who challenged the status quo to attend prom as their authentic selves.
From dress codes to outright bans, these deeply personal accounts reveal the courage it takes to claim visibility and joy in spaces that were never built with us in mind. This is a tribute to queer youth who resisted erasure - not just to be seen, but to be celebrated.

Mickey’s Thoughts:
“In a world where the status quo often goes unquestioned, this film reveals how something as seemingly simple as going to prom can become a profound act of resistance for LGBTQ+ individuals. It’s a reminder that even the most ordinary milestones are shaped by who is—and isn’t—welcomed to participate fully as themselves."
