Friday Film Club: August

Join us for Friday Film Club - a monthly event series hosted by our Ambassador of Creative Art and Culture, Mickey.

Each session will take place during lunch in The Globe, featuring a short film carefully chosen around a timely theme or cultural moment. Expect thought-provoking storytelling, space to reflect, and a chance to connect with the world - and each other - in a different way.

This Month’s Theme:

Hey everyone!

The Theme for this month’s Friday Film Club is Honouring Indigenous Voices – Stories of Resilience and Connection.

In celebration of the International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples on August 9th, this month’s film club highlights the strength, cultural pride, and enduring spirit of Indigenous communities. We will be viewing Into the Circle, the moving story of a resilient Lakota family navigating life-altering tragedy and finding their way back to their cultural roots.

Through moments of hardship and healing, the film offers an intimate look at how community, tradition, and heritage can guide people through the most difficult chapters of their lives. It is both a deeply personal journey and a universal story about identity, belonging, and the power of reconnection.

Mickey’s Thoughts:

"This film is a beautiful reminder that resilience is not just about enduring pain—it’s about holding on to the stories, traditions, and relationships that give life meaning. Watching the Lakota family reclaim their heritage feels like an invitation to reflect on the ways culture can heal, restore, and strengthen us, even in the face of loss."
